Hey visual artists, the new school year has finally begun and it is time to get back to making art!
Make sure you collect and study the syllabi your art teachers give you- the sheet will have important information about supplies, curriculum, and class expectations. Make sure you quickly collect all the needed supplies, so you can jump into creating the next class. The entry date for the Virginia State Fair Arts competitions are coming up, so if you're interested in participating please go talk to or email Ms. Lyons about entering. For more information go to the competition page. For our Juniors and Seniors - Remember that October 28th is National Portfolio Day at VCU. Mark it on your calendars and make sure you're prepared, as the event is mandatory. To help in your preparation go to the VCU NPD page and also check out their Portfolio Prep Brochure. Freshman and Sophomores are also welcome to attend National Portfolio Day, though it may be a little premature, it's always good to have a head start! Going into the month of October, there is also the opportunity to participate in the Inktober Initiative, a challenge to draw one ink drawing, per-day, for 31 days that is undertaken by artists worldwide. Check out the Inktober website for more information. We hope you had a great summer and are just as excited to be back to ARGS as we are!
