Glimpse of the TripOn Monday, October 21st the visual arts majors (and a few honorary students) took on Washington DC, visiting The National Gallery, Renwick, and Hirshorn. 2019-2020 EVENTS
October 5: National Portfolio Day at VCU, Richmond, VA. (Juniors and Seniors) October 21: Field Trip to Richmond Galleries/Museums November 15-16: InLight Richmond December 5: Submission Deadline for Scholastic Art Competition December 17-19**: ARGS Winterfest/Holiday Art Show (reception date TBD) February 24-26: ARTFEST Visiting Artist Workshops and Senior Portfolio Presentation April 17: ARGS Annual Fashion Show (tech night is April 16) May 8**: Visual Art Senior Show at Walton Gallery, Petersburg & Annual Visual Art Spring Show at Petersburg Area Art League. **Student attendance is mandatory & parent involvement is strongly encouraged! Our Spring Art Show had a special visitor on Friday, May 11th, in the form of a journalist from the Petersburg Progress Index!
The staff writer, John Adam, interviewed and took some photos of students and staff enjoying the show. You can read his article here. Our 13th Annual Spring Show, featuring the artwork from our students, is coming May 11- June 11, 2018 to Walton Gallery, 17 N. Sycamore Street, Petersburg. The opening reception is this Friday, May 11th, 5-8pm. We will be featuring recent drawings, paintings, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, fashion, and photography. We are very grateful to Walton Gallery, allowing us to show our work in their beautiful space!
If it is not possible to attend the opening reception, the show will be up through June 1. The Visual Arts Class of 2018 is presenting their Senior Art Show at the James Center Atrium, located at 1051 East Cary Street in Richmond, May 4- 24.
Recent and award-winning works in drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, graphic design, and sculpture will be on display. All are invited to attend the opening reception, on Friday, May 4, from 6-8pm! Congratulations to everyone (designers, models and volunteers) who took part in our 2018 Fashion on Friday the 13th!
